Obama rallies for Sen. Murray as voters hit polls
SEATTLE (AP) — Confronting anti-incumbent fervor, President Barack Obama stumped Tuesday for Sen. Patty Murray of Washington, whose re-election bid could be a harbinger for the fate of besieged Senate Democrats.

With Murray at his side, the president was meeting with business owners in the Seattle region who have upbeat stories to tell. He hopes their successes underscore his broader message that the sluggish economy is rebounding thanks to resilience and federal support, although more than 14 million remain out of work.

Aboard Air Force One on the way to Seattle, White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton said Obama believes Democrats "will hold on to both the House and the Senate" despite a stumbling recovery and polls showing vast voter discontent.

Obama timed his visit to coincide with the Washington primary, in which the top two vote-getters for the Senate seat, regardless of their party, will advance to the general election. Vying for her fourth term, Murray is expected to move on, but so is her chief Republican challenger, Dino Rossi, who is mounting a serious campaign in this closely watched race.

1. Murray will make it
And Rossi probably will also despite the fact he is a two time loser for governor! Although there are two others running in the republican primary and where I live, a highly red part of Washington state, I have not seen a sign for Rossi, but have see signs for one of the others running who is from this side of the mountains, the east side. Not saying there aren't some signs out in other areas of eastern Wahsingtion, but or that I could have missed some, but places I always see signs for republicans who are running are not putting out Rossi signs!

Rossi has a lot of problems that came out when he ran for governor, and I am sure there have been more things since he lost in 2008. I don't think Murray has to worry, but she needs to go on the attack, link him to the good old boys in D.C. and show how he is getting a lot of money from Wall street. Put him on the defense and make him explain how he is going to vote on things, like repealing health care reform, or repealing the financial reform bill, etc. Also make him come up with a plan on how to fix the economy, and how tax cuts for the rich, which he is, are going to help with jobs and cutting the deficit!

3. oh, yeah, Rossi's campaign is "serious"

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A day after sending out a press release making pot jokes when referring to a Washington State University study on marijuana's effect on pain medication, Republican Dino Rossi's U.S. Senate campaign insists he intended no disrespect to medical marijuana research.

On Thursday, Rossi released a statement focusing on the two-year project by psychology professor Michael Morgan, whose study involves injecting synthetic cannabinoids along with opiates in rats to see how to improve treatment for people with chronic pain. Cannabinoids are the active ingredients in marijuana.

Rossi criticized the $148,000 in federal stimulus dollars granted to Morgan last year, saying taxpayers "are tired of their money going up in smoke" and that instead of creating jobs, the money isn't "going to stimulate anything other than sales of Cheetos."

CLOWN.
