Angle won't attend tea party rally

Nevada Republican Sharron Angle will not appear a tea party rally on the U.S.-Mexico border this weekend, much to the chagrin of the organizers of the event who say they confirmed her attendance just a week ago.

The United We Stand Border Coalition advertised Angle as one of its marquee guests this Sunday at a Tea Party rally in Hereford, Ariz., which also bills Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former Rep. J.D. Hayworth as speakers. But Angle spokesman Jarrod Agen said she has other commitments in Nevada this weekend and will not attend the rally.

5. This is a good strategy

Ms. Angle should know better by now than to make an appearance at any event at which she is a scheduled speaker. It will turn off potential voters to have her associated with herself. Therefore, she is canceling all engagements where she is scheduled to speak and scheduling new appearances at rallies where she won't show up.

Ms. Angle also finds this a good way to solve her difficulties with the media. If she's not there, journalists can all her all the questions they like and she won't have to respond by putting on her track shoes.
