C-c-c-at fight!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091112/ap_on_en_ot/us_books_palin

Palin also writes harshly of CBS anchor Katie Couric, whom she describes as "badgering" and biased. Palin's series of interviews with Couric were widely regarded as disastrous, leaving the impression of an ill-informed candidate who was unsuited for the job.

women as a 'catfight?'

9. Peddle that bullshit elsewhere. "Catfight" is a sexist term that demeans women.

12. Says the Kitty. ;)
Seriously. This is in reference to a Seinfeld episode.

That's why I posted that picture. It's a gag throughout the episode where Elaine fights with another woman due to her wearing fur, a coworker because she doesn't move her arms when she walks, then Raquel Welch after a spat on the street and finally, with a prostitute for, tying it back to the beginning, wearing fur.

In every instance, Jerry and Kramer say, "c-c-cat fight!"

It was mocking that. Yeesh.

18. The irony of somebody calling themselves "Kitty" while calling catfight sexist was not lost on me.
Never seen the Seinfeld episode, didn't watch the show much, and it was mostly on during years that I didn't have a TV.

I do know, however, that "soup nazi" is not an anti-semitic term.

16. Not around here.
It's a term to describe prolonged verbal snarling and snarkiness over inherently petty matters.

32. Because, of course, women only ever argue over inherently petty matters, right?
Arguments that men hope will devolve into hair-pulling and clothing-tearing until eventually they're dressed in nothing but their underwear...and then all of a sudden they realize how silly the fight is, and they apologize to each other, and they kiss and make up...and the fondling begins...

...Please, spare us the sexist male fantasies. *sigh*

Two well-built guys going at it, arguing and sniping at each other, until they're tearing each other's clothes off, and find something deeper going on... Brokeback Mountain.

34. Those are dogfights.
I'd rather be called a cat. But I guess even if it's relatively favorable it's "sexist".

Seriously, as a woman I am really curious: WTF is wrong with the expression "catfight" as a description of two (or more) women getting into a brouhaha? Do we have to COMPLETELY sterilize the language? Sheesh.

14. I thought at a certain point, she actually tried to help Palin.
She saw how vapid and uninformed she was coming across and tried to help her out, help her show some more depth.

But, it was pointless. Sarah has no more depth. So she couldn't show it.

21. Well. I am a female and not taking everything seriously has brought us Stupak and those that
ignore sexism, do so at their peril at this point in time. I remember when folks said Stupak "would never be included in the house bill" . They told me not to take it seriously. Humor is humor. I like Seinfeld but this is a tad sexist and cat fight is a demeaning term . It implies the protagonists lack credibility. It implies any disagreement between females lacks credibility as in "just" a cat fight. JMHO.

catfight is still sexist, and despite the claims of other posters, is not used to describe a disagreement between men.

You really should relax. Seinfeld is probably the funniest, most clever sitcom ever made. The fact that you consider it "shit" along with your opinion that "catfight" is sexist makes me feel you're not someone I can talk sense into. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

There aren't enough 'ludes on earth to make a badger that gentle and compliant.

That Palin cracked under that solicitous scrutiny says she isn't ready for politics, period.
