Elaine Marshall ahead of Burr (37-35)

This was an internal poll. Lake Research is a highly regarded pollster.

1. NC is turning bluer and bluer.
Love it. Who would have thunk - the "Tarheel State" just may have two Democratic senators this time next year.

4. She's popular in Asheville
The rural (red) areas are another matter, but I have high hopes for her.

8. I will be happy to see Elaine Marshall win
which will make up for Arkansas' expected democratic seat loss for US Senate.

9. I would much favour a Marshall win.
I have had reason to write both my Senators on two issues - Don't Ask, Don't tell and Rural Housing.

Senator Hagan is for the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell - period.

Senator Burr states he is for human rights and for everyone to be treated equally irrespective of their gender, but not to repeal DADT right now because we're in the middle of a war and that would upset things. In my book that's two-faced, being for one thing and then against it at the same time.

Senator Burr wrote back stating that the bill that would support rural housing did make it through Senate and since the House supported a similar bill, it'll reconcile in due course. Senator Hagan never wrote back, but that's OK. Emails can and do get lost.

Interestingly, Senator Hagan never sent anything in writing to me, she used email - fine by me, since I sent her an email in the first place. Senator Burr's office however felt the need to write back physically. I appreciate the letter, but an email would have been just fine.

I think Senator Burr was the guy who called his wife to advise her to get all the cash out of the bank "now" - as Lehman Brothers came crashing down with AIG etc?

The Sierra Club and other organizations have done a nice attack ad against Senator Burr and his environmental record.

Even as a Congressional Representative, I'm not fond of Richard Burr. When his constituents needed his help, his office said there was nothing Congressman Burr could do. So his constituents contacted his next-door neighbour congressman - Howard Coble. His office and he were able to do what Mr. Burr was not capable of doing. And it is in part reason why I am here right now, in part thanks to Howard Coble.

But I do not believe in polls. Wait till November 2nd for the REAL poll.
