Republican campaign chairs defend George W. Bush (New Strategy - Whitewashing the Bush Era)
The chairmen of the two Republican campaign committees defended the presidency of George W. Bush in television appearances over the weekend, a preview of the GOP's planned pushback against expected Democratic attacks on the last president.

"People had jobs when Republicans were not only in charge but George Bush was there," said National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (Texas) during an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press".

John Cornyn, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, told C-SPAN's "Newsmakers" program that "Bush's stock has gone up a lot since he left office," adding: "I think a lot people are looking back with more fondness on President Bush's administration, and I think history will treat him well."

The rhetoric from Cornyn and Sessions reflects a gamble by Republicans that Bush, who left office in 2008 deeply unpopular with broad swaths of the American public, will, as almost every president does, rebound in terms of his public image as time passes.

1. Yep, we knew this was coming....
.... the degree to which we're able to STOP this meme from growing will determine whether or not we one day call Jeb "Mr. President."

2. I am not looking back at bush with "fondness".
I think "withering scorn" might be closer to the mark.

3. This strategy is being mapped out behind the scenes by KKKarl Rove.
It is now being manifested in the media, in Bush's memoirs, and in Republican talking points. The idea is to blame Obama for everything: the economic crisis, etc. and suggest that the Bush tax cuts didn't subtract from federal government revenues. According to the talking points, we can afford to maintain the tax cuts for the wealthy, but unemployment benefits amount to "WELFARE" for lazy blacks. Meanwhile, the Hispanics are stealing jobs away from good, white Americans.

I wish Americans would wake the fuck up.

4. Heck, yeah! People had two or three jobs.
"You work three jobs? … Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that." —President George W. Bush, to a divorced mother of three, Omaha, Nebraska, Feb. 4, 2005

5. It's amazing what you can do with a couple trillion dollars invading a country over lies..
What's amazing is how insensitive our Representatives are to the mountain of atrocities which are being done / paid for by us and in our name on a daily basis.

The DAY after we invaded Iraq, March 2003, and we DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW where these "FIELDS" of WMDs were being held weren't FOUND...

Should have been the day when we started impeachment + treason hearings...

6. People did have jobs when Bush became president
It's true! After several years of a great economic boon during the Clinton administration, people were working and we had a projected surplus. Then, Bush took over. Everything went to shit! They're not only liars, but ignorant liars at that!

7. Democrats have allowed the Republicans to shift the blame of this
trillion dollar deficit to them..because no one will stand up and remind the public that George Bush caused this mess..
Democrats went along with every spending bill he asked for...So its all just one big game and they all compete for corporate money..

9. Rehabilitate GWB and the path is open wide for a Jeb Bush
runh for the Presidency. Also helps Republicans in their
attempts to take over house and Senate.
