1. WWJD: Whom Would Jesus Denigrate
Although there is (or at least was) racism in Central/South America, it is different than here. I spent two years in Panama in 1969-71 and learned that.

3. It's been an eye opener to me. I knew there was still racism, but not to the
extent we're now seeing. And what shocks and sickens me the most, is that it seems to be ACCEPTABLE to so many! At least people didn't 'flaunt' it for the past several years.

I lived in the South for 7 years and nobody ever said racial things in front of me (probably because I was a liberal from Seattle). Sometimes they'd catch themselves and stop saying what they were going to, sometimes if something slipped they'd apologize to me and admit they knew it was wrong. I don't kid myself that they were as conscientious among themselves, but my point is that even in their 'hood, they were very aware that it wasn't okay to let it all hang out. There doesn't seem to be that restraint any longer. And my fear is the more vocal it is, the more dangerous it will become.

4. The story of the Good Samaritan gets me to think on racism.
In that story the question of who is a person's neighbor is answered by including people of different culture.

The story is told of a Samaritan, Samaritan where a culture looked down on by his audience, or not of the same culture of the groups he was speaking with. The story specifically speaks of how a person could choose to treats someone of another culture.

Also somewhere there is a verse that says something like it is easy to be nice to a friend, but to be nice to someone that is not part of your group is something better.
