While President Obama and the Democratic majority in congress have not done 1/3 of what they promised us when they and Obama were cam paining, I for the life of me can not understand what damn FREEDOMS these POS are talking about. And another observation. I have never ever seen a picture of Bachmann when she does not have that crazed look in her eyes. I do not call people crazy, but this woman has got to have a mental problem. She looks goofy. And her actions prove, I just do not understand how any body even a republican can vote for her. She has not done ONE DARN THING for her district since she has been elected. And as long as her district is drawn up the way it is she will continue to win elections. We need a DFL governor in this state and get rid of the siphoning off of funds to the rich and big business. Phewlenty has made a DAMN BIG MESS of what was a good state.

It is suburban Spral much more than it is white Flight. African American Population is about 4% of the state or 200,000. Minneapolis is on 17% AA or about 70K. Are suburbanites escaper the central city?Of course. But that has more to do with the sere for larger homes and lack of congestion then it does with race or even crime.

It has had a large African-American population since the 1960s, and for the past twenty years, there has been a large influx of African-Africans, especially Somalis and Liberians, and Latinos. The suburbs north of Minneapolis border on the first part of the city to have a significant African-American population.

mostly been there forever. It has been about as backwoods and redneck as MN gets for a very long time.

Yes, there is/was some sprawl going on as people searched for larger homes at cheaper prices and the old wooded areas and prairies were built up, but all that has served to do is make her district a little less extreme right wing as the liberals have moved in. I grew up right next door to her district and am very familiar with it and its people. It's a pretty racist working class district and suburban sprawl has only served to make it less so, not more so.

There are also a lot of rabidly anti-abortion Catholics who only vote for her because she is anti-abortion.

Her district is not largely made up of white flight, although I think there has been some of that due to higher crime rates and rash of shootings over the past decade in the first ring of cities due to gang activity moving in from cities like Chicago, Detroit and St. Louis. But that is not what has motivated most people to live in her district.

Her district has always been populated white as snow, except for the necks which are beet red, and the only hope we have to get rid of the nut job is for more liberals to move there.
