FinReg: Snowe, Brown, Collins... all on board!
GOP's Snowe, Brown back Wall Street overhaul bill
By JIM KUHNHENN (AP) – 17 minutes ago

WASHINGTON — Sens. Olympia Snowe and Scott Brown pushed sweeping financial legislation to the edge of final passage Monday, both announcing they intend to support the regulatory overhaul despite initial misgivings. Snowe of Maine and Brown of Massachusetts join Susan Collins of Maine as three crucial Republican votes for the legislation.

"While not perfect, the legislation takes necessary steps to implement meaningful regulatory reforms, create strong consumer protections and restore confidence in the American financial system," Snowe said in a statement Monday evening. In breaking with the rest of the Republican Party, the three lawmakers appeared to give Democratic leaders the 60 votes needed to overcome procedural hurdles facing the legislation.

12. I know! I was just glad to see a few votes with the Dems...
but only a very smaLl percent of the time. I guess that's still marginally better than a Repub.

No problem!

13. and the next meltdown will be worse than the last and in not too long
Our country and people will likely pay a heavy toll for not taking rational measures to drain the Wall Street swamp and at least restoring capital investment instead of allowing the casinos to roll on.

There is some nice new furniture, carpet, and maybe even some decent appliances but the house is still burning down.

Failure to go after this hammer and tongs in a similar way to a war effort is evidence of a suicidal tendency.

17. I'm highly suspicious of
anything someone from the GoP would support. I wonder what's being surrendered for said support.

19. This actually just makes Scott Brown more of the bane of the ultraconservatives.
Little Scotty Centerfold has to keep walking that fine line between trying to keep support in his own party and stay popular in Mass, not the most conservative state around.
