Because all I hear is it's the economy that the reason why the democrats will loose a lot of seats. If memory serves my right in 1994 the economy was doing fine under Bill Clinton. The rethugs didn't run on the economy they ran on Clinton being liberal and there stupid contract with America.

4. Wasn't that good through a lot 1994...
We were still suffering the end of the reagan/bush recession.

It turned towards the end of the year, but not enough to save the election.

5. The economy wasn't the issue. It was already Whitewater and "Troopergate"
Those were the days before I stopped listening the right-wing radio to monitor what the opposition was saying. Now I don't give a damn because I get physically ill listening to the non-stop lies.

In January 1994, Janet Reno appointed Robert Fiske as special prosecutor to investigate Whitewater and crazy allegations about the death of Vince Foster, after the tv news and radio talk shows went at it non-stop. And Nightline with Ted Koppel was a worst offender, by the way. That summer of 1994, a three-judge panel in Washington removed Fiske and installed Ken Starr as independent prosecutor and the rest is history. IMO, it was the ethical cloud created by the Republicans that caused the Democratic losses of 1994 and had little or nothing to do with anything else.

And Democrats were sitting on their hands because they were dispirited over the defeat of healthcare.

10. Clinton pissed off the base with NAFTA and turned out the GOP with gun-control.

Obama, similarly, has pissed off the base with his Wall Street support and turned out the Republican base by implementing Bush's bank bailouts.
