South Carolina Chamber of Commerce endorses Democrat Sheheen in governor’s race
While many may affiliate the Chamber of Commerce with the Republican Party and its pro-corporate values, the South Carolina chapter recently broke from that tradition by endorsing a Democratic candidate for governor.

On June 23, the Chamber announced it would stand behind state Sen. Vincent Sheheen.

In the primary elections, the Chamber endorsed both Sheheen and Republican gubernatorial candidate Rep. Gresham Barrett.

Barrett was defeated by state Sen. Nikki Haley in the June 22 runoff, and by a decisive 65-35 margin.

Haley’s victory played a part in the Chamber’s decision to continue its Sheheen endorsement into the general election, according to its president and CEO Otis Rawl.

2. The national Chamber only represents mega-corporations
And some of the small businesses which are Chamber of Commerce members have known it for a while. It's interesting that the state organizations may be waking up as well.

3. Interesting....
They support the "Greene-Sheheen Machine" as the SC GOPers are calling them. That, in itself, is a huge joke, as the Democratic party here is so weak that referring to them and a "machine" is an oxymoron. Of course, they previously supported the most useless member of Congress, so I find their support of Sheheen a tad disturbing. Better him than the Palin-endorsed tea-bagger, I guess?

4. Hopefully this is a sign of trouble to come for Haley
I hope this is a sign that our candidate has more of a chance then most would think of coming from behind in the polls to surge to the lead come election time.

I could see Haley's alleged affairs depress her base's turn out if lots of people start to believe it's true, or new more reliable evidence comes up to prove it.

Still, if I had to bet on us winning the governor's mansion this year in a solidly red state, I'd bet on Texas.
