What are we doing to get those fucked up REPUBLICANS out of Office?
That's what I want to know!

I'm sick and tired of all of 'em!

Most progressives don't even bother to contact them anymore,
even if those Republicans are their Rep or Senators. So those
fucking assholes don't even hear from any of us,
and I think that's part of the problem.

So what are we gonna do about this?
cause I can't take them anymore!

1. Reduce the amount of time you spend posting in DU
and spend some quality time getting involved in your community, and on the local candidates. Politics is all local!

3. I do that! I have to search out the Republicans......cause I'm in Dem territory all the way!
Edited on Thu Jun-24-10 06:13 PM by FrenchieCat
Last election, I had to drive 30 minutes to find a Republican to fight against....and the Dem I backed at that time to take that seat won! So now, I'm gonna have to drive my ass all the way to Stockton or something!

I gave the DCCC $25 a few days ago.....

and I was faxing to Republicans lawmakers all throughout the last leg of the health care debate.

Also, I write to the press a lot to let them know what I think of their Republican honeys....
that they seem to love so well.

I have been posting a whole lot less at DU....cause yeah, it doesn't seem to be the place that
digs deep and tries to hurt the Republicans....to date.

But I'm only one person.

What are you doing to get rid of Republicans in the House and the Senate?

8. I concentrate on more mundane issues such as supporting the unionization of janitors
and the upcoming job action at the Hyatt, who is refusing to recognize the hotel workers as a union. In addition to that, I am active in peace and environmental groups.

You see, people must come first! Supporting workers and ending the wars is more important than wasting my time and efforts in electing a Blue Dog that doesn't support abortion rights or LGBT rights.

2. The most important thing is to inform the voting public
They must be told the truth about the republicans' actions and motives. I tend to agree with Ed and Senator Harkin: President Obama needs to use his bully pulpit now. Personally I'd like to see him give a primetime address, apologizing to the millions of Americans who will not be able to collect unemployment anymore and point the finger squarely where it belongs. Name names, call them out on primetime TV.

4. Oh, you are talking about COBRA extension being nixed again by GOP
Bully pulpit is right! Democrats must pound the message that Republicans hate those devastated by the Great Recession, and they must pound this message every time they are on TV or on the radio.

15. I agree.
They can't let this go. Tell the public what is gong on every chance they get, and there needs to be TV ads put out showing how the republicans are voting "against" unemployment extensions, how the republicans are "upset" about the 20 billion fund president Obama got BP to set up, and show how republicans are defending the "apology" to BP by Barton! Show clip after clip of what he said, what Rush says, what the other members of congress who agreed with Barton are saying, what republicans running for office are saying about making taxpayers help pay for BP's mess! Keep all of the BS from the GOP front and center showing just how much the GOP sides with the big corporations over the rest of americans! Get democrats on every Sunday TV show and keep hammering these issues from now till the elections! The people can do only so much, those with the ability to get on TV, put out ads, and speak to large crowds need to carry the ball and NOT lighten up one bit! Hammer, hammer, hammer get the message out flood the public with what is doing on! Beat the republicans at their own game, take the offensive not the defensive!

6. That sounds good! But I wasn't asking about what the President has to do to beat Republicans....
I'm asking folks here what they are doing to help get rid of Republicans.

10. I suspect a lot of folks here and on other sites don't do a lot
but you and IndianaGreen have the right idea. Start getting involved in the process locally. It has to start with finding great Democrats who are willing to run for office. After that, volunteer, go door to door to talk to registered voters. Tell them why Democrats, in particular your candidate of choice, deserve their vote. When the republican candidates lie, point out the truth (The thing Obama and our Dems in congress can do on a large scale, we can do on a smaller one).

19. That's an excellent idea.
But we also need to have an organized effort to get the facts to the public. Too many people only turn on the nightly news and then consider themselves well informed when we all know the "llberal media" slants nearly everything to put the republicans in a favorable light. Dems need to find ways to break the corporate stranglehold on the media.

13. We elected a Majority Democratic House Senate and got the White House
58 Democratic Senators and a firm majority in the House. Why are the Republicans such a big problem. When they held the majority they rammed through all kinds of horse shit. I think the problem is either lack of desire or lack of backbone. Are the DEMS and GOP just two sides of the same coin? They speak of opposition until they gain control then they conform to the wishes of special interest.

16. Repeating what they say verbatim seems to be working pretty well, actually.
At their current rate I fully expect one of them to come out in favor of sacrificing goats to Satan or something. Then insist he didn't really mean it that way.

18. Steel yourself
I'm afraid we're going to see more of them come November.

But the light at the end of the tunnel is 2012. President Obama will be on the ballot, and he will bring his voters out in force. The country will already have had nearly two years of tea baggers bloviating on TV, making asses of themselves.

We'll be rid of the Blue Dogs the baggers will replace, and we can nominate grown-ups from the progressive point of view to replace the baggers. There's light at the end of the tunnel.
