I suppose when I think about it that could be taken both ways. I just think it belittles someone when they use something quite innocently lost in translation. Reminds me of Germans invariably saying "can you gift me a cigarette" instead of "may I have a cigarette"

5. Language issues can be a real problem I know this as an ESL tutor.
The most important thing you can convey to non English speakers here is how to use the language CORRECTLY. And it is important to be polite. I stress this with all of my students (I have Korean and Turkish students).If they are to survive and thrive in the U.S. they need to have these language skills most importantly...
