I suppose when I think about it that could be taken both ways. I just think it belittles someone when they use something quite innocently lost in translation. Reminds me of Germans invariably saying "can you gift me a cigarette" instead of "may I have a cigarette"

The most important thing you can convey to non English speakers here is how to use the language CORRECTLY. And it is important to be polite.
