Anybody watching Tweety?
Chuckles Todd was on there saying Obama shouldn't have said:

“And so — and this translates into very concrete terms — I think it’s fair to say, if six months ago, before this spill had happened, I had gone up to Congress and I had said we need to crack down a lot harder on oil companies, and we need to spend more money on technology to respond in case of a catastrophic spill, there are folks up there, who will not be named, who would have said this is classic, Big Government over-regulation and wasteful spending.”

I think Chuckles just couldn't believe the President would tell the truth and chance pissing off the repubs.

1. That is absolutely correct, Chuckles
What Obama said. He knows Republicans. That is exactly what they would have said.

3. I heard it also (then turned it off). Chuckie just does not get it or is

willfully being obtuse. Of course the President was correct. Repubs would have fought tooth and nail against tougher regulations and he and Tweety both know it. I had a feeling Tweets was going to start getting snarky and well..it's a new TV set so I turned it off.

8. Hilarious watching Tweety interview 'lobbyists' Breaux/Lott who work for Big Oil!
I don't think they earned their money. They could not even stand up to Tweety! They don't want a six month moratorium and they surely do not want oil companies to have to drill a backup well like in Norway.

13. It was bizarre - he said that the President may have been telling the truth but he shouldn't have
said it because it made him sound depressed and "woe is me."

These people are unbelievable.

I think the President should put him on a backup plane as a timeout seat. ;-)

16. Instead of Running For Senate - Greedy Tweety
choose money, complaining and Monday morning quarterbacking.

Earlier I tuned in and caught Chris Jansing just being snarky as all get out regarding POTUS & gusher - instead of being helpful in this situation, they just want to fuel the anger and bash the President.

20. The big question is whether the administration would have ever said such a thing in the first place
They didn't. They don't tend to crack down on corporations. Saying that they're somehow virtuous for not having said something that would have met with derision is not much cause for heralding their leadership. The fact is that they didn't say anything. Not fighting for something that they might not have won at is not valiance, it's tactical caution.

Inferring that they MEANT to say something is baseless. Excusing inaction because of risk isn't something that's going to send me to bed feeling particularly safe tonight.

Yes, it's fulsome deceit of the right to blame Obama for not taking a stronger hand with a corporation; they'd have called him a shirtless bolshevik if he had. It's also a bit misleading for Obama or his people to suggest that they would have if they could have, judging from the corporatist mindset they display. More grating is the underlying question of what degree of lack of resistance must be present for this administration to push for something.

The whole thing is just depressing.
