Does anyone see Michelle Obama running for office someday?
She's such a natural and you can tell when she talks that she knows a lot about the issues. I would say she's probably just as informed and knowledgeable on the various issues as anyone in office right now. Do you think there's a shot she'll run for office in Illinois after Obama has finished his 8 years as president? The kids would be a lot older. And for some reason, I just have a hard time seeing either one of them just sitting on the sidelines. I really don't think she'll be a Hillary and run for president, but I do see something substantive for her after Barack is done.

1. She could obviously do it
But I don't think she likes politics very much.

2. Absolutely not! She has seen the sausage being made up close
and personal and it's not pretty. I can't imagine anyone wanting this job...

3. No, I don't really see it
I could see her as an ambassador, though.

19. Yeah. I think Ms. Obama understands there's more than one way to make an impact.
The Clintons were more about power; the Obamas are more about achievement. That's my opinion, anyway.

I'd vote for her in a heartbeat, over her husband in fact. I love her. She's smart, ruthful and generous.

6. Why bother?
So she can be ripped apart by purists on blogs and message boards who will whine that she "betrayed" them, five minutes after being sworn into office?

16. I heard she did not want her husband to run for president because
politics is a "mean" business. She knows better.

8. I guess I see her in an Eleanor Rooseveltian role...
An outspoken activist and humanitarian. I think politics would be too confining for her. She impresses me as being the kind of person who needs to speak her mind without worrying about whether or not she'll win votes.

But I could certainly be wrong...

10. She's always been an activist so she'll probably continue that
As for a career. I guess she liked being in law. She's given up for the duration but she might go back to it.

12. Nope and not only that....

.... he'd leave office in a heartbeat if she said the word. Multiple sources I've read talked about how his desire be involved in politics but a strain on their marriage. His run for US Senate was his last shot. If he'd lost that, he likely would have never run again. When you think how many lucky breaks he got in that campaign, makes you wonder if some higher force wasn't involved.

Anyway, she supposedly doesn't have the zeal for public life that he does (ironic considering she's so good at it.)

Now that Malia on the other hand.... :)

14. As qualified as anyone I guess for senate or the House...
Since a great deal of those who were elected had little to no political background.

But I don't see her ever running.

15. Nope
While she would be a shoe in in my opinion, She wants to be a mom. Maybe after the kids are all grown.

Why should she? Look what they're going through.

20. Not only no, but hell no. I can certainly see her as a cabinet
member in a future Democratic presidency though. She, like most political spouses, is not a politician. There are very few couples who are both politicians - the Clinton's and the Dole's come to mind, but not many others. I think it's because most successful politicians have an ego the size of the great outdoors; there's simply not room for two out-sized political egos in most households. There are many successful politicians who are married to extremely successful people in other fields, usually business or law; those relationships seem to work for the most part.
