Biden Predicts 700K To 1.4M Jobs By Year's End, 'Trouble In Paradise' For GOP
Vice President Joseph Biden predicted Wednesday night that the United States will add between 700,000 and 1.4 million workers to the list of the employed by year's end -- and in the process mute the administration's critics.

3. That's a pretty safe estimate, actually
There's 7 months left in the year, that's about 100K to 200K per month on average.

After the recession that's actually a modest amount.

4. Aren't they protecting 500K just for May?
I expect it to be closer to 2 million by November.

6. He's likely excluding census jobs since those are temporary.*

5. I hate hearing these estimates.
I feel like it just opens us up to criticism if we don't hit those marks.

I'd much rather hear about it after the fact.

7. I'm one of Joe's biggest fans, but he really needs to shut up on this. If it doesn't come to pass
and the jobs aren't there, his words WILL come back to haunt him. Worse, the wingnuts will milk them for all they're worth. I can see it in a Republican campaign ad now. :(

9. I don't doubt that. Just sayin'. If the economy turns down again...and seeing as though
the wingnuts (and some corporate Democrats) didn't approve an extension of job benefits, jobless numbers may continue to rise.

I love Joe and everyone here knows that I'm a huge fan. But on this, he needs to tread lightly.

10. With Friday's announcement of 500K plus jobs, he will already be proven correct and he knows that
so, it isnt a bet at all.

11. If he is saying it. He already has numbers from the Commerce Department
Some of you get me, buying the Media meme that Biden is some dumbass who talks out of his ass. If he said these things he likely has good info.

12. One would have assumed that Admiral Allen had "good info" too
The trouble with these sorts of optimistic pronouncements by public officials is that they can and do come back to haunt them- and eventually, if it happens enough, people simply stop believing anything they have to say.

15. Relax, he is only saying this
because he knows the actual numbers will be better.
