Americans Want to Give Health Care Reform a Chance.

Democrats are pumped up about this AP story on public opinion about the Affordable Care Act :

But when asked if they would be more likely to vote for a congressional candidate willing to give the law a chance to work and make changes as needed, or one who would repeal it entirely and start over, respondents picked the one who would give it a chance by 55-42.

Political independents favored giving the law a chance 57-40 in the poll, taken in early May.

While many people are still skeptical of the law, most also favor keeping it in place and gradually improving it, which reflects the fact that many people who "opposed" the bill before its passage were concerned that it did not go far enough rather than being concerned that it was a case of overreach. It also reflects the American disposition toward embracing social safety net legislation after it is passed. While by no means a settled issue, it doesn't look like health-care reform is the political disaster Republicans promised their Democratic colleagues it would be -- which shouldn't surprise anyone.

3. When will they start fixing it?
"Lets get it passed then we can fix it later," as we heard over and over during the HCR debate. Enquiring minds want to know.

7. Your calling me a liar
April 1st our insurance went to what is called a 'health savings plan' after 25 years of having good insurance. The 'plan' has a $6000 yearly deductible and the insurance company will not pay a dime until that 6k is paid first EVERY YEAR. It also costs 40% more in premiums than we paid before. What this means is we can no longer afford to see a doctor and we HAVE INSURANCE. We are being gouged and the healthcare bill will do nothing to stop it until it is 'fixed'. I have an untreated h pylori infection. The doctor I have gone to for 20 years wont treat it without doing tests first and the last time I had the same infection, the tests cost $18,000. I cannot afford the tests, so I will just have to be sick. I was also slated to start interferon treatments this October but now I cannot afford it because the new 'insurance plan' wont pay a cent of it and I cant afford the 30,000$ for treating it. My hepatitis C will just have to go untreated. My wife is even worse off than I (in the short term) because she has uterine fibroids that need to be removed before they become cancerous. All this with two kids in college. DO we yank the kids out of school and spend their college funds on healthcare or do we sell our house? I would prefer that they just 'fix' the bill to outlaw healthcare insurance gouging.

But hey, Im just a liar so to hell with me, right? Anonymity brings out the worst in some people.

8. We've come a long way since the days of
the corporatemedia promoting the uglyness of the teabaggers interrupting Town Hall Meetings..and then the gNOPs swearing a vendetta on the Dems for passing HCR and the corporatemedia playing it up.

What was it boner said? "hell no"?:silly:
