2. I'm not happy about the oil gusher either
What can I say. I wish more attention was being focused on it too.

3. Right. It should be sackcloth and ashes for Obama full time now.
He should adopt Carter's Rose Garden strategy since that worked so well.

8. no. i suspect the op has far fewer responsibilities than the prez
and thus should be spending all of his/her time solving the spill.

The OP is simply silly. The president doesn't stop doing his job, which includes things like hosting the Gershwin Awards dinner. Its a dinner, not all day, not half a day, not a quarter of day. Jimmy Carter still hosted things like the Kennedy Center honors even though there were Americans held hostage in Iran at the time. If something of note occurred during the event, the President (any President) can get up and go to the situation room to deal with it.

10. Yes, it's a tragedy and life will go on
while it's happening since those who will be at the White House are not involved in plugging the hole and the clean up..they're not being taken away from their jobs.

11. No doubt Paul will have something to say about the disaster
Edited on Wed Jun-02-10 11:38 AM by emulatorloo
Given his activism.

I really don't think there is a need to negatively spin every little thing Obama does. We've got Glenn Beck and his ilk to do that.

14. You're right.
Obama should get with the sackcloth and ashes as soon as possible. Cancel all the state dinners, all important meetings with ambassadors, no more national security briefings, no more advancing a domestic agenda, no nothing.

He must scream and rend his garments 24/7 over something he does not singlehandedly have the power to fix, because that's exactly what I want to see in the guy I voted for to lead my country.

You're an idiot.

17. Lately, it seems that EVERY post about an event like this
Edited on Wed Jun-02-10 11:01 PM by CakeGrrl
receives at least one or two responses admonishing the President for not paying enough attention to, or not appearing to care enough about, or not doing enough about < insert pressing issue of the moment here >.

EVERY one lately.

15. "Fixing a Hole"
---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10vU7Qo-NlU

Title: The Beatles - Fixing a Hole lyrics
Artist: The Beatles Lyrics

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
and stops my mind from wandering
where it will go
I'm filling the cracks that ran though the door
and kept my mind from wandering
where it will go

And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong
I'm right where I belong
I'm right where I belong
See the people standing there
who disagree and never win
and wonder why they don't get in my door

I'm painting my room in a colorful way,
and when my mind is wandering
there I will go

And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong
I'm right where I belong
I'm right where I belong
Silly people run around
they worry me and never ask me
why they don't get past my door

I'm taking my time for a number of things
that weren't important yesterday
and I still go

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
and stops my mind from wandering
where it will go
where it will go
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
and stops my mind from wandering
where it will go
