Rand Paul wants to 'Take Back America." From whom--corporate special interests who own Congress or,
you guessed it--President Obama and the Democrats?

Tweety's doing a show on the Tea Party movement this month. Guess Rand Paul has sent a 'thrill' up his leg!

1. Unfortunately corporate interests own Washington no matter which party is in charge
the tea party just wants to make it worse (if that's even possible), plus they'd like to throw in some racist, misogynist, homophobic, Fundie extremist BS legislation on top on it.

2. That'w why we need to urge our members of Congress to pass the Fair Elections Now Act.
The Fair Elections Now Act would provide public financing of federal campaign beginning in January, 2011. It would be a lot cheaper for us to finance their campaigns than live with their being behold to the special interests who finance their campaigns-or as Molly Ivins called in--'legalized bribery.'

There are 153 cosponsors of H.R. 1826 in the House and 20 cosponsors of S.752 in the Senate.

Email your members of Congress and urge them to pass the Fair Elections Now Act.

3. I have discussed this with every member of my family AND
no one seems to know who the hell has the country they want to take back. Now Bush ruined the one we had in the eight years he was in office and the Democrats slowly are repairing it.

Any stupid person who wants those eight years back are lacking the brains of the billy goat as every one says. Please Mr. Billy Goat forgive me for trashing you.

8. You just don't 'get it'. It's a dog whistle for the racists.
Rand and his type want to 'take back the country' from anyone that isn't exactly like him, white.

The people that have dominated this country, European Caucasians, can see the demographic path this nation is taking. White people will soon be a minority in this country, not too many years into the future if birth/immigration trends continue.

They are afraid of the coming power shift, both economic and political, away from them.

Obama getting elected woke up the latent racist wing of the Republican Party from their slumber, but it is impossible for them to change the coming demographic shift in this country.

Reagan and his appeal to middle-class American suburban racism was their high point.

We are on the other side of that slope, now.

10. 'Those people' are starting to run things.
And that makes lots of people more than a little bit uncomfortable about 'payback'.

My Daddy told me this, years ago, "Son, never kick anyone on your way up, because they'll kick you twice as hard on your way back down."

Dad is a smart guy.

11. Actually, Paul says 'Take Back Our Government.' And, we know who's in charge!
Edited on Wed Jun-02-10 02:01 PM by flpoljunkie
Barack Obama has inherited and sh*tstorm of problems from eight years of Republican rule. Of course, neither the Republicans or Tea Party candidates like Ron Paul, get that.

That's all we need--more tax cuts for the rich and more deregulation for the corporations!!! Our country will be truly f*cked!

12. I find it sad that there are NO Parties that are truly for the people...
On paper democrats are suppose to be but we all know that there is very little difference between republicans, democrats and this tea party movenment...they all worship corpoate special interests....and its quite sad.

I wonder if we will ever get a real FDR and a real congress that fights for its constituents (that aren't part of the fortune 500).

14. Well FSM dammit...
I want "MY" country back too!:grr:

"My country" was a time/place when and where I was able (if damn stupid and naive) to trust that the gov't was NOT run by the corporations, for the corporations so that rampant capitalism shall not perish from the earth.

When I actually believed that if you brought a problem to the attention of your Congresscritter (of either House) that said Congresscritter would take your concern SERIOUSLY...that we were considered as actual real live human beings...not just votes, or a 'demographic', or a source of money for to get re-elected so as to stay in power.

When I "knew" that even though there were corrupt politicians, and corruption going on, it WASN'T 'business as usual, the way things are done here'...but WRONG and would be rooted out, dealt with and fixed by the justice system.

That the 'little guy' actually mattered, and that the hard-working middle class was the strong and valued...and that Hard Work would actually get you somewhere...and a conscience about how you treated your fellow humans was merely Standard Equipment on a normal human being.

Where 'liberal' meant "generous, openhanded, unselfish"...and the term and the descriptions were not pejoratives...

When 'the bottom line' (read: $$$) wasn't sacred and the most -excuse me...the ONLY important thing... and damn to hell and sweep away anything that might interfere with that- i.e., common decency, other people's livelihoods, "the environment" (aka 'the farking planet upon which we live').

Lots more...but methinks there were a LOT of us who lived in "MY" country...
I wish it really did exist and that it could be gotten back. It was a rather nice place to live and I miss it.

16. Or from the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Hell, "taking back America from the Civil Rights Act of 1964" has basically been the GOP agenda for decades.
