efforts?

Should we up food production ??? Of Course we should...thats the Conservative approach...play it safe...

Growing more food on land is harder these days as we have a top soil/ water prob...

But aquaculture is wide open to exponential expansion...

we should start asap to avoid severe shortages of food.....

5. I don't think food shortage will be a problem
We produce, import and export food, so there's plenty to go around. If anything, food production probably one of the most secure things we have right now.

6. But our Global Population doubles every 30 40 years ..depending on normal events
at same time our resources are declining...

Soon, if we don't prepare, hugh food deficits will occur

leading to stressful times...

Its not only me ...

There are many others who share this concern

11. The world population is expected to level off at perhaps 50% more than it is now
The rate of increase has slowed considerably already.

eg figures for world popiulation ( http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/idb/region.php ):

1978: 4,303,133,652
1979: 4,377,496,958 - increase 1.73%

1988: 5,108,859,812
1989: 5,195,713,196 - increase 1.70%

1998: 5,932,090,951
1999: 6,008,254,795 - increase 1.28%

2008: 6,681,112,529
2009: 6,755,987,239 - increase 1.12%

By 2050, the predicted population is 9,202,458,484 - just 36% more than the current. And just 0.45% more than 2049.

10. could massively stretch resources by curtailing meat production
doesn't it take something like 100 pounds of grain to produce a pound of beef? If things get dire, stop feeding grain to the livestock, and either have them graze, or just stop most or all livestock production for food.
