Gunner DeLay Backs Cecile Bledsoe in Arkansas District 3 Race

Fort Smith attorney Gunner DeLay has announced he'll back State Senator Cecile Bledsoe in her campaign for Arkansas' 3rd Congressional District Seat. DeLay held a news conference Thursday afternoon at the Republican party headquarters in Fort Smith.

DeLay was one of eight candidates on the ballot in Tuesday's Primary Election. He placed third with 158 votes. State Senator Bledsoe will now move forward to a June 8th runoff against Rogers Mayor Steve Womack.

"I will be out on the campaign trail with Ms. Bledsoe, certainly here in the River Valley and in my home area, telling people that if they believe in me, if they believe in what I have talked about, to get behind this candidate," DeLay said.

Womack, who got over twice as many votes as Bledsoe. But because he didn't get over 50 percent of the vote, they're headed to a runoff. The winner of that race will face Democrat David Whitaker in November.
