which will we have first, an athiest president, or...
or a president who doesn't care about sports.

Imagine a presidential candidate from Chicago, and a reporter asks her if she's a Cubs or White Sox fan. She answers, "that's baseball, right?" and then goes on to say, "I went to a baseball game once. The park was really pretty, really green. I had no idea what was going on the field, once in a while something would happen and the players would run around for some reason and everyone would cheer. That was kind of exicting but it didn't happen very much. I got bored after about an hour and left."

I would be thrilled if that happened, but I think her campaign would die right then. But maybe in time...

1. At this moment in time, both options are seen as Un-American.
Wish it were otherwise.

3. I didn't have to read the "or" to know it was that one.....
Barring absurdities such as "eight foot tall child-rapist with alopecia" the answer to which is more electable between an atheist and another "mainstream but somewhat suspect" population is always the other one.

7. We've probably already had both, it's just that they can't actually say so. Quite a few of the
founding fathers were atheists, or at the very least agnostics.

9. Atheist.
Sports cuts across all walks of life, and frankly, it's THE perfect conversation topic that allows campaigners to interact with the people beyond politics, which is absolutely essential to making people feel comfortable about voting for you. Religion's a tough one because you're immediately writing off about 30% of the voters, but as we saw with Kennedy, if you've got charisma and if you're a Democrat, you can beat it. It'd only work with a Democratic candidate though - a Republican wouldn't make it out of the primaries.
