US to Hold Israel, Palestinians 'Accountable' for any Undermining of Talks
Even with everything on the plate.. this administration in NOT waiting till its last year to push the Israelis and Palestinians to come to the table.. This is a very good thing..because it had become a joke.. a President pushes for some type of reconciliation of aggression, and the parties just had to wait out our elections..

Not this time.. The Obama Administration has been pushing from day one

The Obama administration says it will hold Israel and the Palestinians accountable if they do anything to seriously undermine trust in a new series of indirect peace talks.

In a statement Sunday, U.S. State Department spokesman PJ Crowley said the two sides have completed the first round of those talks, ending a 17-month break in negotiations.

U.S. Mideast envoy George Mitchell mediated the talks by shuttling between Israeli officials in Jerusalem and Palestinian officials in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

2. I hate to be cynical.
I hope and pray something will come of it ,but think the chances are very small.Netanyahu and the Likud party are just not in the right frame of mind to meet the Palestinians even 30% of the way.And from their perspective why should they? They have the US Congress in their back pocket and there is very little Obama can do about it.The elections in November will probably strengthen their hold on our Congress. As I believed and said from day one you can talk about 3D chess all you want. When all is said and done the Likud will out smart and out maneuver Obama,Mitchell,Clinton and company.

3. I am going to be cautiously optimistic. I am going to hope
That both sides agreeing to come back to the table means that they are serious about coming to agreement and this is not some circle jerk.
