Nevada Republican gubernatorial candidates debate AZ immigration bill
Edited on Tue Apr-27-10 05:03 PM by catgirl
From Huffington Post:

Nevada GOP Gubernatorial candidates discussed Arizona's immigration bill and the role of racial profiling in law enforcement at a debate this weekend.

"Do you support the Arizona's tough new immigration law do you believe that racial profiling should be used as a tool for identifying illegal immigrants?" the moderator asked.

"I can't believe we're having to sit here, in a debate, and answer the question, 'should illegal be illegal,'" said Mike Montandon, Mayor of North Las Vegas, giving his support to the Arizona legislation.

"Profiling is the single greatest tool of law enforcement," Montandon continued. "We train officers, we train law enforcement, we train even those TSA people to look for people who look like bad guys, that's profiling, that's what we do, that's how we get it done...It's not a racial issue, it's a law enforcement issue."
