I think the only way Harry Reid can win re-election...
is to force the Republicans to actively filibuster a truly robust financial reform package. Engage in a public knock-down drag-out with the Repigs on Wall Street abuses and then run on it. I think it's his last hope.

1. He needs to spend some time in Nevada if wants to win.
The leadership pols get stuck in DC and take their home for granted. Nevadans care less about his performance as Majority Leader, and more about what he does for them.

7. Leadership brings home the bacon
But I think the biggest problem with being a leader is that you can't take a stance in opposition to your party when it's politically helpful. That's why leadership needs to come from really really blue states to minimize their chances of ever facing a tough re-election. Nevada is too purple and previously having a leader from South Dakota was even more ridiculous.

9. A truly robust financial reform package will never see the light of day. The only way
anything will even make it far enough to vote on will be if it's so riddled with loopholes as to make it completely meaningless. A Congress that exists to do the banking industry's bidding is never, in a million years, going to bite the hand that feeds.

12. Is there a website that lists democratic senators by seniority?
Who is in "line" to take the leadership spot?
