1. Lieberman, maybe
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't take Specter back.

2. Lieberman, yes, but I don't see Specter doing it.
Under the circumstances I don't think the Republicans would want Specter back. If it were the other way around would Democrats want the guy back?

Democrats accepted Lieberman after he campaigned for Palin-McCain. There does
not appear to be much honor among them.

3. Lieberman won't switch unless they take control
He values committee chairmanship too much and he voted in favor of the final HCR bill (and he voted Yea on reconciliation).

5. Why are we having this conversation.....
About what Republicans are going to maybe pick up?

Perhaps they won't be picking up a damn thing.
Let's let things play out before making doomsday predictions,
shall we?

Today is a fine day.....but I will hide this thread,
cause it fucks up the positive line up I see.

:hi:

19. Specter may actually be the best choice - Toomey is a total asshole,
whisc of course is no handicap in Congress, but he is dull as dishwater when he is not raving. Sestak is not really an improvement over Specter, and Specter has the party's backing.

The GOP would never let him come back - they thought he was a Democrat years before it ever occurred to him.

Lieberman should be retired ASAP - 2012, IIRC.
Maybe he will run for president again - he has the ego.

17. Why would either switch if they aren't in the majority?
If overall control is at stake, then maybe Lieberman would flip. I doubt Specter would.

21. I am surprised none have mentioned the other "ind"
namely Charlie Crist, who would have a chance of getting democratic votes if he went independent.

24. Specter won't switch back, he knows what would happen in 2016 if he did
Specter has been primaried multiple times in the GOP, and with how increasingly radical they've become he'd be screwed for certain if he did that, plus he'd have burned bridges with everyone in the PA political system, which isn't how to survive long term.

Also I don't think Specter is completely doomed, if Sestak doesn't start advertising in the primary then Specter is going to win, I haven't seen a single senate ad yet, and I live in PA. It's only like a month away till we vote.

Lieberman however I could somehow see the logic to flipping, but I doubt he'd even consider it unless the GOP took control of the senate without his vote. Despite how much a lot of us don't like him, he's still a world apart from the republicans in voting scores, and his hasn't changed all that much since becoming an independent.

25. Specter won't switch again
He already has switched parties twice in his career, which is already jumping the shark, so I highly doubt a third time is in the cards.
