Lightning Rod Grayson Posts Another $800,000 Quarter
Outspoken freshman Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) announced Tuesday that he raised $803,000 in the first three months of the year for his re-election bid.

That impressive haul is only slightly lower than the $861,000 he raised during the fourth quarter of 2009, when he became a progressive hero after taking to the House floor to declare that the Republican plan for addressing the nation’s health care issues was “don’t get sick” and if you get sick “die quickly.”

Grayson’s fundraising this quarter was significantly boosted by an online “money bomb” event in late march that raised $500,000, according to his announcement Tuesday.

But as Grayson has worked to take advantage of his heightened political profile so, too, have Republicans, who believe his liberal views are largely out of touch with voters in his Orlando-area swing district.

1. I read that even a lot of Pubs liked Alan better than their own candidates.
I only wish I lived in his district so I could vote for him. I don't, but I've sent him some $ several times. It wasn't much because I don't have much, but I sure want him to win his election!!!

13. I would think he could, but might want to make sure he had a great shot of winning it.
Grayson as a FL U.S. Senator would be a great idea. However, would people outside his district vote for him in majority numbers?

6. if he's voted out the folks in that area are dumber than rocks
A congressman not only willing but ABLE to advocate for the middle class - and the voters are thinking of voting him out? They y'all deserve the GOP dirtbag you will wind up with.

10. im just reporting the
story from the area
my district has had a GOP forever so i myself hope that he wins and it starts a turnaround
florida is very odd politically
by numbers there are more dems but the GOP has all the offices because voters identify as dem everywhere but the voters booth
people who were dems their whole lives elsewhere move here and adopt a right wing no taxes attitude leaving our state underfunded
as for voters in orlando being dumber than rocks i cannot argue
look up the history of the "reedy creek tax district" and see how dumb they really are

14. so you're saying they are stupid enough to vote out the one guy who WILL work for them
Like I said earlier -- do that and expect no pity from anywhere else. Y'all deserve to get the frigging over the pukes will do if put back into office.
