3. Knowledge is power... which explains alot about the state of politics today.

I will be bringing this factual talking point to spread among the good folks attending this month's OFA phonebank. Thanks!

4. No, DON'T send it along to the teabaggers.
It decries the poor poor wealthy who pay 70% of the country's taxes while the rest of us get more in refunds than we pay in. :eyes:

6. No I suggest you read again. Yes poor get tax break but it also covers many
Things where you don't have to be poor to get a tax break.

9. Okay, I reread it
Now it reads like an article that thinks taxes on the middle class needs to be increased.

When they do an article detailing how the middle class pays a greater percentage than the extremely wealthy let me know.

10. We need higher wages in this country

A family of four living on $50k a year clearly cannot afford to pay income taxes.

The article acts like I should feel sad for the top 10% because they're paying such a large share of the pot while other families get away with paying nothing or getting something back. Sorry, but this is what a progressive income tax structure is all about.

11. While I did not "escape"
I have never had a refund this large, or ended up paying less in taxes in a very long time. We made a major energy efficiency upgrade to the house and my daughter entered college. Usually whenever republicans cut taxes, I pay more. This time, with democrats running things, I am actually paying thousands less.

12. This would take the wind out of the teabaggers' sail, but their real issue is
not taxes, it's racism.

13. That statistic about how the top 5% own some large majority % of the wealth
in the country - leads me to :nopity: for anyone with enough money to pay taxes.

The tax rates here are not so high - I pay them and still have plenty left over. So for me :nopity:

And I bet the average teabagger is not so well off, either.

14. The top 1% pay 40% of federal income tax, but they own 35% of the country's wealth.
That 35% percentage of the country's wealth is truly staggering.
