Gibbs calls conservative blogger's Census comments 'remarkably crazy'
By Jordan Fabian - 04/06/10 04:39 PM ET

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on Tuesday ripped comments conservative blogger Erick Erickson made about threatening Census workers.

Erickson, who was recently hired as a CNN contributor, said last week on his Macon, Ga. radio show said that if workers seeking answers for the American Community Survey (ACS) came to his house, he would "Pull out my wife's shotgun and see how that little ACS twerp likes being scared at the door."

Asked if he had thoughts on protection for Census workers at the daily breifing on Tuesday, Gibbs called the comments "remarkable crazy remarks of somebody that would threaten somebody simply trying to ensure that they're adequately represented in this country."

Gibbs went on saying "These days, it never ceases to amaze you. And usually it's only trumped by what somebody will knowingly say tomorrow about where -- I think Lincoln who said better to be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

2. CNN's viewership has fallen about 45%. I remember wishing I could
hold off on a trip to London so I could watch the live coverage of Tiannamen Square because CNN was covering it. They were awesome once. Their international CNN coverage still is.

3. Good point about their international coverage...
I visited Europe last October and watched a bit of CNN. Hell of a lot better coverage than the domestic network.

5. For the Fall 2008 Elections, I Was In India
And I watched CNN's international coverage. Their analysts were literally laughing when they were discussing McCain supporters claim that Obama was a socialist.

8. There is a fine attatched to not cooperating with the census - and
threatening someone with a shotgun is illegal, even in many Republican states.
Go for it, idiots.

9. Of course Erickson's comment is crazy.
When the White House is calling out one of its commentators, does CNN wince a bit? Oh wait no, because CNN gave Glenn Beck a show for 3 years.
