we need better names for our legislative intitatives
One area in which the Democrats definitely lag behind the repubs is in naming legislation. During the chimpy years, the repubs pushed for the "Patriot" Act and for "No Child Left Behind". Who could oppose those?

But many of the big initiatives on the Democratic agenda have simply been referred to as " reform: health care reform, financial services reform, immigration reform, etc. A few get snappy names, like the "Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act", which is a fitting tribute to Ms. Ledbetter, but not a particularly snappy name. Even the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act" is pretty dry.

1. It's the difference between one group that actually is
legislating to better the nation and one group that is pushing gimmicky legislation and using feel good words to describe it and make people feel good about crappy new laws.

2. We should just name everything
"The American National Patriot Purple Mountain Majesty Eagle Flag Sparkle Act of (insert year)" and it will pass unanimously, regardless of what it actually does.

4. How long until we have legislation titles sponsored by corporations??
"Just Do It" Act

"I'm Lovin' It" Act

and last but not least...

"Fair and Balanced" Act

But seriously, we do need better names that appeal to America's bumper sticker attention spans.
