speculators (Republicans) could artificially drive up the price of crude right before the election in November resulting in gas prices at $4.50/Gal. Guess who would get the blame when Sarah starts chanting "Drill baby drill."? Republican subterfuge like this could easily overturn the house and senate. This action by Obama could defuse this strategy somewhat.
