in drunk driving accidents in 2001 in the states of Florida and Texas alone.

A multi-billion dollar ground invasion of Afghanistan, costing thousands of lives, has correlated with a 100% decrease in fatalities related to foreign born terrorism on US soil. Meanwhile, the fatalities from drunk driving are about 16K to 17 K nationwide EVERY year.

When (and if) Obama announces another 30 thousand troops to aid the occupation of Afghanistan (which will require billions more), for another 100% decrease, will you call upon the president to send additional thousands to invade and occupy states that sponsor home grown motor-vehicular-alcoholism (which seems to be perpetually 600% more dangerous, nation-wide, than terrorism)?

Do you support the government propping up corrupt prohibitionist governors to aid the War Against Drunk Driving? Do you support military checkpoints on roadways, illegal detention of lushes, and predator drone strikes against enemy-combatant bars? Are you ready to get serious about this situation?

When Obama announces mopping up Afghanistan, will you ask him to put it all in perspective, and do some mopping up here? We need cleanup in isle Dumbshit.

1. Are you acually comparing 9/11 to drunk driving accidents?

2. Is a black Gazelle a Zebra?
I'm simply looking into the category of "Problems that kill many people and warrant a response", and I see both of them listed there.

I'm calling for some fucking shock and awe, baby. Lets light those fucking beer distribution centers up.

3. Try problems that kill people DELIBERATELY and you'll find only one listed. NT

4. People deliberately drink
So, when people die, its only a big deal if someone meant for it to happen directly? So thats why Katrina warranted no response? It isn't the need of the people that is important, but the need for vengeance?

Id would think the government should respond with the people's best interest/needs/safety in mind, rather than with some notion of how pissed off they are at the perpetrators guiding their response.

5. And do they think, "I'm going out to kill someone now." 9/11 was MURDER.
Katrina, in case you haven't figured it out, was what they call "an act of God," and as such it is not comparable to 9/11.

6. So the needs and saftey is irrelevant to response? Its all about how pissed you are?
Edited on Sun Nov-29-09 07:09 PM by Oregone
Look, either you are with us or against us. We need to smoke these people out. You are making a mockery of 16K deaths a year!

3000 counts of murder == 100K troops, death and billions

16 K counts of mansluaghter EVERY year == who fucking cares?

Wow. Nice priorities.

11. No, all events warrant a response. But they are not comparable events.
Edited on Sun Nov-29-09 07:27 PM by NYCGirl
And, BTW, we have troops that occupy states where there is drunk driving. They're called police.

they're NOT COMPARABLE.

16. Yes, exactly, 3000 deaths require a massive multi-billion dollar ground invasion and 16000 perpetual
deaths a year require MADD commercials for deterrence.

I guess we aren't pissed off enough at Coors and their indoctrinating commercials yet. They hate us for our sobriety after all.

10. As one of the lushes liable to face illegal detention... I would have to vote no support...
Ironically, just as I'm willing to risk death on the roads any day because of the risks of death at the hands of other drivers (Remember, 70% of all traffic fatalities are caused by sober drivers !), not to mention muggers, psychos, police who can't tell a 9mm from a taser, acts of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, etc.

... so too am I willing to take my chances going about my life if al Qa'eda has training bases in Afghanistan, and not just Pakistan, Qatar, Sudan, and Somalia.

I'm beginning to think the country believes that Afghanistan has Magic Terrorist Dirt... like a lucky T-shirt that one wears when their favorite team gets into the playoffs... likewise, the Magic Terrorist Dirt of Afghanistan gives terrorists that Extra Edge when training for attacks on the US !! (After all, 1 out of 1 9/11s were the result of training on the Magic Terrorist Dirt... and statistics don't lie !!)

21. how about...
approx. 16,000 murders annually in the United States

15 MILLION children die from hunger every year worldwide

2,266 veterans died last year from lack of health care

up to 9,000 people in the United States die each year from food poisoning

should we go on...

the 9/11 attacks were tramatic, but the resulting fear and actions (in the name of 9/11) are absurd

Thanks. People totally lack perspective, blinded a bit by fear, propaganda and hatred.

Im a lot more worried about my daughter getting molested (25%+ chance) before graduating than getting blown up by an Afghan-trained terrorist

25. I can't name it exactly
I think it is deeper than fear, propaganda and hatred... we humans have a very difficut time putting things in perspective. It would help if more of us read and understood history more completely.
