Question about the GOP's anti-health care reform lawsuit
If the health care mandate is illegal, wouldn't it be illegal to require money from your paycheck for social security and medicare over the years?

You are required to essentially buy in to Medicare during your whole working life, unless you don't earn enough. How is this different?

1. If people understand what happens when you take this thinking
to its logical conclusion, they may back down. I doubt even Republicans are this stupid (though I am not sure).

3. This stupid attempt to make the reform illegal
could open up a big can of worms.

4. No
Because those are government administered programs and those are levied as public taxes for a public program.

The mandate is a requirement that you procure a private service from a private company and that you provide proof of it and if you don't you are assessed with a penalty on your income tax return. Two different things entirely.
