3. Congrats America...now the road has finally been laid and true reform will continue...
Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 03:31 PM by denimgirly
With this passage at least it starts something (it may be tiny) to get real refomr via Single Payer.

I strongly doubt healthcare will be revisted again before 2020...highly doubt it.

18. Goddamn right. Everyone thinks this is so fucking great. I have yet to hear anyone explain
how making the insurance cartels hundreds of billions of dollars richer is going to speed up reform. I have a feeling I'll be waiting for that explanation for a while.

6. What's next?
Doesn't it have to go back to the Senate where the REpukes will tie it up with amendment after amendment?

When does Obama get to sign this?

8. they'll try to tie it up. Reid has to make sure it sails through
and Pres Obama can sign it as soon as it's out of the House. he will have to wait to sign the reconciliation package into law.

9. If the House passes the Senate version - it may be signed tonight?
Does anyone have details? The House is scheduled to vote and pass THE SENATE BILL, as it is, plus a reconcilliation measure, which the Senate will try to pass next week. (They have 51 committed votes... but whatever mischief happens, the basics will be passed, and maybe signed by Obama, TONIGHT.)

11. Pretty sure Obama is going to sign it tonight
There won't be a big ceremony for it though. They'll wait for the reconciliation bill for that.

7. I just want to be sure the Senate doesn't fuck this up.
If McConnell does a bunch of shenanigans to hold up the reconciliation package, what we get will be much worse than the House is voting on today.

10. McConnell can delay it for awhile, but I don't think they can make
changes to the reconciliation package. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

And Reid has guaranteed that they have the 51 committed votes to pass it.

13. We did it!
Now the Senate just has to unbunch their collective panties and a bill will finally, at long last, make it to the President's desk.

19. Congrads but the fight has just begun.
A number of states are attempting to exempt themselves from the law, like Virginia.
and the repugs are taking this to the Supreme Court.

Its not over yet.

Still, we have the momentum. Whats next? I suggest JOBS, and then Cap n' Trade.
