This stray comment in a reply is wise and key to settling everyone's nerves. (In response to Steny Hoyer saying we don't have the votes yet.)

"Steny is just walking back the report that we had 216. Because then yes votes who are nervous might think their vote isn't needed anymore..."

In the early phase you want to be confident to create a bandwagon effect.

But as the thing approaches you want to be publicly cautious because some of the YES votes are acting on the belief that they are the last needed vote. So being too optimistic today might make waverers think they have a chance to back out... that maybe their vote isn't the last vote needed for passage.

1. I've thought it likely all along that the Dems just are NOT going to publicize
exactly where they are with the votes. They want to leave the Repubs in the dark for as long as possible. This is what the Dems want, whether they have the votes or not.

2. Don't forget also that some of the "NO" votes may be Trojann Horses

A bit a misdirrection to get the Repukes and the Lovbbyists and the astroturfers spending time and effort where they shouldn't
