An added side bonus to passing HCR: this will more than likely empower
Democrats and perhaps make them realize the rethugs are just in the way, and that they can be defeated.

I do hope so!

4. Too bad they couldn't have realized that a year ago
and passed a bill that was actually WORTH passing.

6. If Democratic coalition can hold together for HCR
it's a very good sign for the future.

This is what Kucinich's 'yes' is pointing to

7. You still don't get it
The conservative dems have been USING the GOP. They leverage the GOP opposition to their own ends. You think the Stupak 12 could do ANYTHING without the GOP?

But we're not suppose to point this out because it'd be "retarded".

Rahm USED the GOP to get the bill he wanted. A bill without drug price negotiations, without a public option and WITH a mandate and cadillac taxes. You think he could get ANY of that without the GOP?

8. THIS Stupak 12?
'Stupak dozen' is now a half-dozen
By Molly K. Hooper - 03/20/10 03:43 PM ET

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) says that "at least six" of his original "dozen" members are standing firmly against the Senate healthcare bill.

Following a 20-minute huddle on the House floor with a handful of the holdouts, Stupak told reporters that he has "not seen an executive order" that would have President Barack Obama ensure that federal funds would not go toward abortions so would not rule out supporting it.

Stupak said that he was "going to think about" what would need to be included in an executive order to convince him that no federal dollars would go towards funding abortion.

Further, Stupak said that he had not talked to the White House about such an executive order.

11. That's the point!
Since the legislation is so watered down...

In truth, if Obama says it will make a meaningful difference, despite the absence of a PO, I'm going to take him at his word.

12. And from a quick read at DU....

it seems the teabaggers have REALLY gone batshit crazy with all the venom they're spewing, not even trying to hide it.

Anyone with any sense and decency should turn far, far away from the right-wingers now. The Rush/Beck/Palin crowd is truly in a world of their own now. I hope.

13. Yes. Overwheling victories in 2006 and 2006....
..plus a HUGE MANDATE for "CHANGE" from the American People didn't work.

Maybe if they just give a $Trillion Dollars of Public Money to an Industry that manufactures nothing and produces no wealth....THAT might work!

15. Reality Orientation brings relief from misery.
Calmly accepting things for what they are IS a road to internal peace.

I am a lifelong Liberal Activist.
While I held some hope for Obama,I never believed the fight was over just getting him elected.
I repeatedly stated on DU that getting him elected was the easy part.
Getting Obama and the Democrats to ACT like "Democrats" would be the hard part.

I will simply continue to fight for ALL the Liberal Issues I have always fought for:

*Medicare for anyone who wants it.

*Immediate withdrawal of ALL military forces and "contractors" from the Middle East.

*Immediate reduction of Military Spending by at least 50%

*The immediate break-up (Trust Busting) of everything "Too Big to Fail".

*Fair Competition Legislation that lets Mom&Pop (small locally owned businesses and farms) compete with Big Box and Factory Farms on a level playing field.

*An end to "Free Trade" (Race to the Bottom)

*Organized LABOR and local co-ops.

*An end to the two-tiered Judicial System

*Prosecution of rich American War Criminals and War Profiteers. (Oh yes they did!)

*An END to "Corporate Personhood"

*Strictly Enforced Publicly Financed Elections (severe penalties for criminals)

*Transparent and Verifiable elections (Why isn't this a front burner issue with the Democratic Party?)

*Re-Regulation with strict oversight of Banking/Investment, Transportation, Communications, Trade, Energy, Utilities.
*NO Public Money for private Prisons, armed Private Police, armed Defense Contractors, private intelligence agencies. Or For Profit Health Insurance Corporations.

*Immediate Civil Rights and Equal Protection for ALL. (No Exceptions)

*Free Quality Universal Education to everyone who wants it.

*Strong Social Safety Net and Consumer Protections.

*An end to The Patriot Act and a return to The Constitution.(especially Habeas and privacy protections)

*A refutation of the "Unitary Executive", and legislation to ensure it NEVER happens again.

*An END to Republican/Corporate influence INSIDE The Democratic Party !
(NO! They DON"T deserve a seat at the table!)

There is no misery involved.
When Politicians move TOWARD the above, I support them.
When they move AWAY, I oppose them.
Simple and Elegant.

17. One might think that winning a couple of election cycles would give them absolute power
...that would, however, be delusional thinking.
