Afghanistan might test the Obama-Pelosi Alliance

Testing the Obama-Pelosi Alliance

The Hill reports that President Obama's Afghanistan troop decision could face resistance from Democrats and Republicans alike in the House of Representatives.

Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), "co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, said a resolution of disapproval would be the 'next logical step.'"

"Although House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a staunch supporter of the President, may not allow such a resolution to the floor, "If she did schedule such a resolution, it would probably pass with Republicans, who feel the plan shortchanges the commanders on the ground, joining with liberals, who don't want to see any escalation."

1. Just this week she said that Karzai was not a worthy partner.
Pelosi is turning out to be the best national leader in the Democratic Party. You heard it here.

2. I think we all know that if Obama proposes it, Republicans will oppose it even if they support it.
It will be interesting though.

3. Eh?
This is what Obama is up against in congress.

Republicans who want more, and more war. If he doesn't give them something they can claim he's for al Queda, etc.

And then some democrats (like me) that want us to get the hell out.

And then wishy washy middlers who get money from the MIC as a bribe to keep the racket going.

Tough spot he's in.

Our efforts need to be focused on changing the congress. If we are to ever really end the war, it is congress that will do so.
