Poll question: How would DU have treated William J. Clinton?
If the internets have had the power and scope that they do today, what would have become of Clinton/Gore '96?

2. This was before the Monica scandal
and the GOP had Bob Dole, who was a regular object of parody by SNL.

3. The ultimate Irony, I guess, Is that after said scandal..
He left office with almost 2/3 approval. And his wife won a US Senate seat the same year ...

4. A more interesting question is how DU would have treated Clinton in the 1992 primaries
Clinton was a very centrist Democrat, a DLC choice, with a very poor environmental record. He had been infavor of aiding teh Contras been Stephanopolis' book (it was one reason he had against working for Clinton, that was obviously overwhelmed by many to work for him.)

I would guess that Jerry Brown, Paul Tsongus and Tom Harken ALL would have been more popular here - as they were all to some real degree either liberals or populists. I would bet that Bob Kerrey, because he often was blunt and outspoken would have been more popular here.

5. I don't understand your poll options at all. However, some recent Gallup data
highlighted that Obama's support among white Democrats has dropped considerably since he took office. Odd, that his support has remained relatively steady with blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Asians but only dropped with whites. Hmmmm... Anyhoo, it's conceivable that DU -- which is overwhelmingly white and I'm told Democratic -- would have crapped all over Clinton as well.

"And though he maintains widespread loyalty among Democrats, the small loss in support he has seen from his fellow partisans seems to be exclusively from white Democrats. It is important to note that this pattern is not unique to Obama. For example, Bill Clinton averaged 55% job approval during his presidency, including 52% among whites but a much higher 76% among nonwhites and 82% among blacks."
