The 18 and a half foot Douglas fir was donated by Eric and Gloria Sundback of Shepherdstown, West Virginia; the tree will stand in the Blue Room throughout the holidays.

4. There was a neat clip on the news about the tree. This is the 4th time the

WH has selected trees from this particular tree farmer. It's a majestic tree (they showed it before it was cut down), and it took lots of men lots of time to get it down, wrapped, and onto the truck. There were several other trees destined for the WH, and they all had tags on them. The Chief Usher picked out each and every tree. The reporter showed the tag on the one for the Oval Office. :) Can you imagine?

Just for info, the couple who owned the tree farm wouldn't say if they were Dem or Rep, they weren't sad to see it go because it would bring joy to a lot of people, they don't get paid for the trees, it's truly an honor to donate them to the WH.

I know it'll be breathtaking when it's adorned.

Even under bush, the WH Christmas trees were always beautiful...(I'm sure bush had nothing to do with it, but whatever designer or whomever deals with these things, has fantastic taste!)

The couple that donated the trees sound like my kind of people. They donate to the WH because they know this is a national thing, and we all get to see a month or so of some seriously beautifully decorated trees.

They only thing I would say about this, is that I would have gone for a live tree that could have been replanted...:)

'this particular tree farmer' is well known in DC for being the BEST, providing the most beautiful trees. Its a big business for them, they harvest seeds from all over to plant and grow. And tho they may have donated this one, they sure do get paid for the others they farm!

We bought our tree from them for 20 years (until we sold our house,) and it was partly due to one of their trees that we bought our house! It was in the foyer when we first looked at the house!!!
