NJ Gov-elect Christie: Feeding the hungry is bad because it's "going on a spending spree"
Edited on Fri Nov-27-09 12:44 PM by brentspeak
We're getting an early taste of what life under Chris Christie in NJ will be like. Unbelievably, there are still people who pine for the every-man-for-himself days of St. Ronnie, and see in Chris Christie his heir apparent:

Corzine and Christie clash over more aid for food banks

With the recession draining the budgets of soup kitchens and food pantries around the state, Gov. Jon Corzine yesterday said he is working on an emergency proposal to dig up more state funds for organizations that help feed the hungry.

But Gov.-elect Chris Christie -- who had called for a freeze on new spending before the legislative session ends and he takes office in January -- said he is leery about expenditures by the outgoing administration as the state grapples with a projected $8 billion budget deficit.

Though he stressed that his administration will "take care of the least fortunate," Christie said "there are some good things that government does that we simply cannot afford to do anymore."

"We'll look at anything the governor wants to propose. In the end, he's governor until Jan. 19," he said. "I implore them not to fall into the bad habits of both Democratic and Republican legislatures of the past during lame duck and to go on a spending spree."

2. I guess I'd stay out of New Jersey if I had sense
this guy is a nut. But then what republican isn't. And if he screws NJ to Hades and back they voted for him, they deserve it. Will he appoint all his Mafia cousins to positions in the state government. Wouldn't that be a hoot all that gambling money, they have been trying to get their hands on for years. The pillage of New Jersey will be worst than bush did to the USA>

6. I'm overweight and hate fat jokes but here goes ...
Christie couldn't even see his bootstraps no less pull them up.

That hypocritical fuck needs to be impeached on January 20th. I hope the Dem legislature makes his life a living hell.

9. Please help make...
...fat jokes and prejudice against overweight people completely nonexistent here at DU. People of every shape and size hold world views that you and I could only call heinous. Let's attack their ideologies, instead of their weight, and work toward ending this "acceptable" form of bigotry.

There's no going "cold turkey" to end a food addiction. That fact, along with the widely held misconception that obesity is a character deficit--fat people are just lazy slobs, etc.--makes it the most difficult of all conditions to treat. I am truly humbled by the struggle of overweight people.

7. Yeah money better given to those poor cash strapped CEO's, can't have them living near roads
filled with pot holes, that would cause them to miss the busy work they are doing to find more off shore tax havens, before that socialist can hit their bank accounts with capital gains taxes. After all, CEO's worked really hard eating at the most expensive restaurants and all that golfing they have to do........errrrrr excuse me, out doors business meetings I mean. Besides we all know that if you feed the poor all they do is make more poor, better to let them starve so the poor problem is nipped in the bud, thats real work incentive too.

10. And Halloween teaches kids to get a free handout.
So says Hannity.

Bottom line is that these people don't want other people THEY deem unworthy to get things THEY feel only THEY should get. Privilege on steroids.

I got mine, so f*ck you.

No, they'd rather use "spending sprees" for the military industrial complex.

I see a return to good old ronnie days. ok every man for himself then it's ok for the crack / meth dealers to get their hustle on. nj should get ready for a steady rise in crime.
