OH SEN POLL: Fisher widens lead in primary, trails Portman by three points.
Good to see a Dem within the margin of error here - probably our best chance at a pick-up in November.

February 24, 2010 - Fisher Ahead In Ohio Dem Primary, But Trails Portman, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Tea Party Scores Better Than Dems, GOP

Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher has opened up a 29 - 20 percent lead over Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner in the race for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate, up from 24 - 22 percent November 12, but both Democrats trail Republican Rob Portman by small margins, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Less than one in five Ohioans think the federal government does the right thing almost all or most of the time, and less than a quarter of the state's voters feel that way about state government, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University survey finds. Ohio voters have a net positive image of the Tea Party movement, but net negative views of the Republican and Democratic parties.

In general election matchups:
•Portman leads Fisher 40 - 37 percent, including 39 - 27 percent among independent voters;
•Portman tops Brunner 40 - 35 percent, including 40 - 28 percent among independents.

2. I sticking to my guns and only voting progressive. I really hope Brunner gets the nomination.
It's really shitty how the party apparatus has pushed Fisher and turned their backs on Brunner, who has done such an excellent job with Ohio's formerly broken election system.

6. I'm kind of torn on this one for that simple fact. Brunner HAS done an
excellent job and we need her where she is IMO. Remember, we don't want a repug in her position during the census.

3. "Ohio voters have a net positive image of the Tea Party movement"
That is disturbing. Do people really understand what the teaparty movement is about, besides being against the govt.?

4. This is one weird state
You live in the Cleveland metro area and you would swear this is the bluest of blue states but venture out and man you run into some of the wackiest fundies, its like stepping into the deep south.

I guess Ohio is really close to West Virgina and borders Indiana the fundie seep must be really bad from those states.

7. I live in NW Ohio, a transplant from the east coast. My family calls it
Northwest-West Virginia or Lower-Lower Michigan.
