Don't worry there are enough republican men out there who would never ever let her win. They are against women for anything, unless it is a beauty queen. Republican men would support her in a heartbeat if she will promote their policy positions and if they think she can win.

That is all that matters to them right now. They want a conservative candidate that can win. If they think Palin can connect with people and win in 2012, they will support her.

If anything, I think it would be Republican women that might be less inclined to get behind her. Personally, Ive found women of all political views seem to have more of an issue with her then men. At the end of the day though, Republican women will support her as well - if they think she will support their views and has a real shot at winning anyway.

The "teaparty" people are just part and parcel of the Republican Party. They are not independent, they are just the conservative base of the Republican Party fighting for control. After any major defeat political party's go through these fights, and this was to be expected after the GOP got smashed in 06' and 08'.

NY23 was just an anomaly. That was an easy place to make their point and, quite honestly, their losing that race might have been bad for us in the long term. Yes, we got a seat out of it for a year, but it reinforces to the most radical of them that striking off on their own is probably a bad idea. They are more likely to keep their fights within the Republican primary now.

There will be no serious "teaparty" candidate. The people pulling their strings, financing the whole thing, no, they have their eye on their goal of trying to take down President Obama.

Palin may win the GOP nomination in 2012 though, but if she doesn't, she won't run as a 3rd party candidate.

But Paul bears no likeness to any of those who ran in the previous Republican primary, and has an actual platform. I read The Revolution and End the Fed, and both books make some very good points, unless you are a die hard fan of Keynesian economic policy. His social agenda makes a lot of sense. The only piece I see in disagreement with many on du leaving abortion up to the states.

Dobbs is marginal.

Santorum has no national base. People in other states don't really know who he is much, and the people in Pennsylvania, who know him best, sent him packing by something like 20 percentage points in that Senate race. Adios, Rick.

On your list, I think Palin is the most likely to "go rogue," as it fits her theme and permits her to avoid getting stomped by Huckabee and other Republicans.
