Obama says new budget rules will rein in spending
This morning we caught Fox News for about 10 minutes and they were saying that Republicans are greater spenders than Democrats. My husband pinched himself, and asked if he were awake or dreaming,, did he actually see that admission on Fox New :)

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_obama

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama said Saturday new budget rules that say spending cuts must accompany spending increases will force Congress to "pay for what it spends, just like everybody else."

Obama signed a bill Friday reinstating budget rules known as "paygo" — short for "pay as you go."

In place during the 1990s, the rules helped create balanced budgets and surpluses. Obama blames eliminating them for creating much of the $1.3 trillion deficit he faced upon taking office in January 2009 and for a total debt of $8 trillion projected over the next decade.

2. No,
Two unfunded Bush tax cuts, two unfunded wars, and the unfunded Medicare Part D, did more to create debt and deficits, than anything else.

We need more revenues. Not social spending cuts.

4. Agreed. Roll back the Bush tax cuts, bring our troops home
We need the social spending safety nets, or we're really toast.

5. I am all for taxing and funding medicare part D
It is a massive unfunded drain on the budget with a give away to the pharma. so we would not buy cheaper drugs from Canada (who I trust by the way) like the military does.. or even to rework that portion.

I am all over that.

Democrats have always gotten a bad rap, because we do pay for our bills.. the republicans just charge it and wait for us to try and clean up the mess, whining the whole time

11. I'm NOT -at least not so long as the government is by law getting ripped off by PhARMA
It's insane for the federal government not to wield its collective buying power.

9. That's a precious baby.
We've rescued two. It would be nice if we could do more, but with three kids as well, the house is pretty crazy right now.
