David Brooks said that the Tea Party people represent 60% of America
Edited on Wed Feb-10-10 02:58 AM by LeftyAndProud60
No way in hell. He does seem to still like Obama, but he warns that this populist movement is growing and in 2012 a Republican from outside will come in a get a lot of these people's support. He mentioned Rubio by name. He did say he thought Obama would be re-elected and has 6or7 more yrs in office. Hope he's right about that.

It's a good interview on PBS w/ Charlie Rose

1. And ...
... just out of curiosity, what planet does David Brooks live on? Is it that planet where 600 people, nation-wide, show up at their own "convention" - and thereby represent 60% of the country?

Just wonderin' ...

4. David Brooks is a Republican, he has a pattern of sounding like a nice guy trying to appeal to
liberals by agreeing with them on something. and then concluding something that is favorable to republicans.

he is worse than people like Hannity, Tancredo etc because he comes off as reasonable so indies and liberals would fall for his crap.

I don't think they're small & we ignore or dismiss these folks at our peril. It appears to be a true movement with some considerable pull.

Angry people who aren't even clear what they're angry about. They can't even agree on a platform to stand behind. Useful idiots is a better name for them.

14. Brooks is right about the Populist Backlash -- We ignore it at our peril
The Tea Party Movement itself is corporate funded backlash filled with right wingnuts who believe they are fighting the elite power structure. It is totally paradoxical.

But the anger that drives that movement is becoming more mainstream, as Washington continues to screw up and allows average people to get trampled.

The Democrats are the logical party to represent true progressive populism, and it ought to be challenging the forces that drive this anger, instead of continuing to ally with Wall St. Big Insurance and the Corporate Oligarchy.

25. In his dreams!
This is just more right wing spin who are trying to jack up the numbers for this "minority" of people who are ranting and raving about everything, yet who have no clue as to what is really going on in this country! The right keeps raising the numbers for these clowns to try and make people think it's "grassroots", they are growing. Now I am sure people are not happy about some things, health care reform is one of them, but it's not because most of them don't want any reform, it's because they want MORE in the reform bill to help the people out and not the insurance companies. Give them a real bill that will help those who don't have insurance, will lower premiums, give them a public option, fix the pre existing conditions problem, take away the insurance companies exemption to the anti trust laws, and watch the poll numbers go UP for the president and the democrats in congress!

28. The teabaggers are people who get off
on palin reading her palm and believe in corporations over people(that's why the corporatemediaWhores are pushing them on America)..I don't think 60% are that stupid and self defeating.

Most people understand that it took 8 years to get us into this mess and the Obama admin is working to get us out.

This is more brainwashing by the mediawhore brooks.

Mediawhores just like to hear themselves babble.
