Beware the "folksy"...
I know I am talking to choir here.. but it is something we all have to be aware of.. "folksy"

When people come up on the scene who are "folksy", the media will run to them and pander and faun, and otherwise capitulate to everyone word out of the mouth of a "folksy" person.

"Folksy" resonates with the uninformed and low information voters. "Folksy" resonates with media types because they are so fearful of being shown up for the empty suits that most are.

People who anchor and are commentators, are there to make a paycheck (albeit a fat one) just like the rest of us.. and like the king with no clothes, their biggest fear is that they will be shown for the empty suits they are. So they migrate and promote the "folksy"

Reagan was "folksy", Bush light was "folksy".. and the rest of us thought there was no way in hell that they could be elected. Good God, the rest of America can see what we see.. right?

When you hear things like what has been going on in the Morning Joe show, where they delight in their lack of academic prowess.. pat each other on the back for not being in the top part of their class.. get ready.. a new "folksy" is being rolled out.

Could it be Palin.. maybe, but I think she is more likely to put her power behind another canidate. She is being set up to round up all the "folksy" needers so she can push them in one direction.

I am pretty damn "folksy" myself, with a turn of the phrase.. and I know it when I see it and smell it.

The push for the guy or gal you can have the beer with.. and who will pull out the gun and shoot them terrorists .. is what is brewing on the horizon..

Never mind that it will be the absolute opposite of what is going on.. (that will be acknowledged after the damage is done in a massive mea culpa that the media is famous for)

But we can kneecap their message this time.. not let them get established, by being and keeping boots on the ground.

We need to get back in campaign form, and put "folksy" to rest for the benefit of the folks.

2. It is so obviously fake folksy though.

Like during the VP debate last year, Palin was so obviously fake to me. Her phrases were just so hokey it was not to be believed.
But I do know there are people out there that fall for that.

5. What surprises me is how "faux folksy" Palin
is. To me she is a cartoon character, but to haters she is just what they need. She has become quite a good actress in front of her teabaggers.

3. There is a simple solution to folksy. When someone goes "folksy" in a debate
you merely have to say, "You can say aw-shucks all you like, but these are serious problems that require mature attention and intelligent solutions. Some knee slapping backwoods wisdom really won't cut it, now I believe we should..."

4. While Bush was in office, during the 2004 election season,
Bill Maher was commenting, incredulously, on the poll that stated people would rather have a beer with Bush than Kerry. He then asked, "When did we decide that Bubbah down the street is qualified to run the country?"

The pride that many have in their ignorance, is simply stunning.

6. Or like Jon Stewart once said . . .
"I don't know about you, but I want a president that's smarter than me."

How about we get some folksy lefties? Hell, Will Rogers was folksy. So was Mark Twain at times. Bob Dylan songs can be folksy. There ain't nothin' wrong with folksy if it's smart and truthful.

7. When did we decide...
When did we decide that Bubbah down the street is qualified to run the country?

About the same time we figured out that "Yeee-haw!" was a foreign policy.

8. K&R. But I think the majority of conservatives do not think Palin's qualified. Joe
Scarborough made fun of her this morning. After playing the, "How's that 'hopey changey' thing workin' for ya," he said that Tina Fey is getting better and better at playing Sarah Palin-that that MUST'VE been an SNL skit. He said Palin has been falling ever since her speech at the convention, that she's starting to look like a parody of herself. The others agreed with him.

9. It's all about branding and she's trying to reinforce a false persona as did scott brown...

Our candidates are too real to use that form of inauthenticity. Hopefully we can work on some kind of branding Jesus rode upon a donkey. I know religion but let's face it religion speaks to them.
