Ford vs. Gillibrand?
Democratic sources say that former Tennessee Rep. Harold Ford Jr. -- who relocated to New York City after his unsuccessful Senate bid in 2006 -- has been talking about the possibility of running against vulnerable rookie New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

Ford, who was mentioned as a possible appointee to replace Hillary Clinton in late 2007, has reportedly told associates that he's skeptical about the idea. But he may have commissioned a poll to test his popularity, according to a Tuesday night post on DemocraticUnderground.com.

"I live in NY and was just polled about a possible primary between Kirsten Gillibrand and Harold Ford Jr. for the Senate seat. I was wondering if anyone had heard if he was considering to run," wrote the poster, who identified himself as "JamesA1102."

The poll wasn't conducted by Gillibrand's campaign, according to people familiar with the situation. It might have been part of a public survey but Ford's hasn't been in the mix lately -- and hasn't been included in any recent public surveys.

An email to Ford, a 39-year-old executive at Merrill Lynch, wasn't immediately returned.

7. you mean he was a black candidate
Not that I'm in favor of a Gilibrand/Ford primary match up, but your post is shows a severe lack of knowledge of Ford's campaign.

9. Ford, ran a terrible campaign.

He ran a typical DLC /blue-dog campaign, way to the right of the successful 2006 senate candidates, like Webb and Tester who embraced populist platforms and got people motivated to vote for them.

10. Ford led that race, in a one the reddest states in the union, until Corker's racist ad
Webb, on the other, only won in VA (by 1%) because of his Allen's racist maccacca comment. Just because some loses a campaign doesn't mean he/she ran a terrible campaign.

18. That's BS
1. He isn't grinning.
2. He isn't posing.

From your link: "Come on. I would hardly call that a “posing” shot. It was obviously caught by a press photographer whose editor, like you, picked up on the irony and ran with it. I dislike a lot about Ford (i like some as well) but I think your hatred of him is a little over the top."

"These pictures were at the Little Rebel Bar and Grill, the place he was warmly received and written about in the New York Times."

Something I've never understood about some politically engaged people. You'll twist things into what you want them to be, facts be damned. And this has nothing to do with my feeling for Harold Ford - I don't care for him much at all. But I do know saying he lost in 2006 because he ran a bad campaign is like saying Max Cleland lost in 2004 for running a bad campaign. Complete bullshit. They were leading their races but were victims of last minute smear ads.
