HUNTSVILLE, AL -- If you've been wondering where Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks stands on health care reform, wonder no more.
"Hear me loud and clear," the gubernatorial candidate said at a luncheon today for the Madison County Democratic Women's Division. "I support health care reform and the public option."
Also running on the Democratic ticket for governor is Birmingham Congressman Artur Davis. Sparks felt the need to again publicly explain his views following recent statements made by Davis' campaign, which accused Sparks of flip-flopping his opinion when he spoke to the Business Council of Alabama in August.
The agriculture commissioner said he did say at that time that Congress needed to slow down, but he's always supported reform.
He said Democrats should stop letting Tea Party groups, which oppose massive medical insurance reform with increased government spending, dictate the health care conversation.
"I'm to the point I don't know if I want to drink any more tea," he said.
