Lame propaganda even by Drudge standards: WHAT IS SHE UP TO? HILLARY SKIPS STATE OF UNION
Drudge Screaming central headline:

WHAT IS SHE UP TO?
HILLARY SKIPS STATE OF UNION

Actual content of story:

...When Clinton became aware that her planned trip to London — for separate conferences on Yemen and Afghanistan — would coincide with the State of the Union address, aides approached the White House about it.

"Could she be the Cabinet member who remains outside the Capitol? We were told that the `undisclosed location' must be in the United States," said State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley. So, "she is not that Cabinet member."

Obama felt it was more important for her to go to London than to remain for his speech, Crowley said.

"She asked the president directly, `What do you want me to do?' And he was very clear: These (London talks) are priorities, so your place is in London working on Yemen and Afghanistan-Pakistan," Crowley said.

5. HUD secretary
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan was been tapped to stay away from the speech in case a calamity were to strike the Capitol.

3. One member of the cabinet always sits it out
in case something were to happen. It was Hillary who was chosen, one reason because she had SOS business to attend to. There is nothing suspecious in this, if Drudge knew anything about history ... he would know this!

4. So who's going to tell Drudge so he can untwist his knickers?
You're right, I had forgotten that detail. If the dome collapses, someone has to take the reins of power.

16. Actually, she wasn't the chosen one.
That person has to be in the US at the time. The chosen person was the HUD Secretary.

;)

18. Goes to show I shouldn't have listened to one of the talking heads
just cause they don't have the correct answer that doesn't stop them from giving out misinformation.

11. Poor matt...can't accept irrelevancy
Huffington and Politco are crushing him in traffic numbers these days.
His outdated relic of a site just isn't the go-to place it once was.

the meeting in London is far more important than warming a chair...do these people sit up at night and dream this stuff up?

17. Well, what do you expect from Drudge?
On a positive note, Tavis Smiley followed Hillary around on her trips near the end of the year and got a very nice interview with her which aired on PBS last night before the SOTU.

:-)

20. I read somewhere years ago that one cabinet member
is always absent from the State of the Union speech. The Pres and VP are both there, so just in case there's some horrible disaster...
I am not 100 percent sure it's true, but that's what I've read. I haven't watched any since Clinton left office but I think I even figured out a couple of times who was missing.
