At what point do we put people who CONSTANTLY spout (fill in the blank)__________ on ignore?

See how offensive that headline is?

Note the "we" used to distinguish the reader from other baaad DUers, some of whom are long-timers with excellent progressive credentials? (meaning obviously not republican trolls)

The presumption of concensus around ones' own view...

There is "we"... the good DUers, and then the dehumanized "them"... les autres.

Notice the acceptance of the concept of impossibility of principled disagreement.

Notice that the headline is intended as a public threat of action against some group who is known to be reading the headline...just "showing the flag," y'know.

Notice that the headline is in keeping with a series of recent posts seeking to call out and call for the ostracization of certain un-named parties... but you know who they are, and they know that you know...

Fortunately the headline of this OP is not intended seriously.

It is just one in a series of recent posts that must be Orwellian parodies of certain political pathologies. Right? I mean, nobody actually thinks like this... right?

Right?

2. I haven't got all the Obama haters on ignore yet
When I get finished there, I'll worry about the horrors of people with a positive attitude.

3. Right? Wrong. I've put several of them on ignore and will continue
to do so. And I'm sure some of them have done the same to me.

Seriously -- there is a point at which dialogue simply no longer works. Life's too short for me to waste my time talking to people who have no intention of listening.

7. "Orwellian parodies of certain political pathologies". Unfortunately, no. To them, not cautionary
tales, but primers.

9. This place is as toxic as the Primary right now
Cheer Leaders, doom and gloomers, haters,

Health Care reform is not what anyone hoped for, but some people will celebrate no matter how bad the bill is (whose fault that is, is debatable), the economy sucks, the war is about to be escalated, and there is some people really angry about lack of action on some social issues.

30 years of the party recruiting people who they thought could win, over who they thought would represent the party's principles is catching up.

The democratic party is a loose confederation of many different types of people, the only time it seems to have any type of agreement, is when there is a republican in power.

Odd, the GOP seems to be able to move in lockstep when in power but break out the long knives for each other when they are out.

10. This may seem like a silly question, but…
does the person you put on ignore know they're being ignored?

15. I hid that thread - that sort of talk doesn't belong here
No need for gangs here - there's already plenty of discord.

17. I have no one on ignore
If I don't th like post or thread, I scroll right past it. If I feel like arguing, I argue. If I feel like being a smart ass, I be a smart ass.

it's a discussion board, for the most part the people posting are anonymous. I can read what they write and think with out being offended about it. I think the key is to not take it personal. That doesn't mean not standing up for your self when people are being nasty and trying to make it personal.
