Wilson vows ‘best behavior’ for Obama speech
S.C. congressman says there will be no repeat of ‘You lie!’ outburst
The Associated Press

...................:puke:

WASHINGTON - The South Carolina congressman who called Barack Obama a liar during the president's last speech before Congress said he'll be on his best behavior for the State of the Union address Wednesday night.

Republican Joe Wilson said he's been getting plenty of ribbing from his family and colleagues leading up to Obama's big speech. In an interview with The Associated Press, he said there won't be another outburst like his shout of "You lie!" during Obama's health care address to Congress in September.

"I am a gentleman. My natural inclination is to be on my best behavior," he said. "I have the highest respect for the president, and I certainly look forward to the speech."

Wilson said voters in recent elections have shown that they share his concerns about health care legislation by defeating Democratic candidates. He said he thinks Obama can win significant GOP support by paring back the bill now that it has stalled in the Senate, and he thinks Republicans agree with him on a majority of the ideas for changing the health care system.

After apologizing to the White House last year, Wilson parlayed the incident into a public relations and financial bonanza. Previously a little-known lawmaker, he drew campaign donations from across the country, and he now regularly appears on cable TV news shows and is a sought-after guest at Republican fundraisers.

He is, however, the only House member ever to have been admonished by the chamber for speaking out while the president was delivering a speech, according to the Office of the House Historian. A week after the incident, the House passed a resolution, largely along party lines, saying Wilson's conduct was a breach of congressional decorum that brought "discredit to the House."

1. I wonder what that means, exactly, in the context of being a
South Carolina Republican.

6. I say we should tie him to a chair and put a muzzle on him
Now I'd say strip him of his clothes, but then he might pull a Brown and go try to pose for Playgirl.

7. Obviously, the Repukes have tapped someone else to be the
asshole this time. Personally, I think that anyone who shouts out like Wilson did should be escorted out. If you or I went in there and did that, the police would invite us to leave. Why should they be any different?

9. Like a freaking child.
When I was in kindergarten, we used to have to play the quiet game where you would walk down the hall on "green street" (we had white square tiles on a green background) with one finger on your lips and one hand on your head. Maybe the Republicans should sit through the SOTU like that.

10. How many signs will the repubs be holding up?
The big news during the last speech to the joint session was Wilson's outburst..but it was equally embarrassing how many republicans were holding up signs like it was a football game!

11. I can see him getting called into the Speaker's office sometime during
the past few days and Nancy telling him the numerous ways she'd serve up his balls for breakfast if he so much as fidgeted during the SOTU

13. Oh, Wilson will behave.
This time around, if there's any yelling out it will probably come from the Democratic liberal side of the aisle.
