Constructive criticism is healthy.

But I have a MAJOR problem with him giving more face time to the Fox talking heads than he does to the administration that he is criticizing. Sure, two and half minute long impersonations of Bill O are swell but it would have been nice to at least have heard the admin's rebuttal to the outrage over the freeze.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/01/26/putting-hatchets-vs-scapels-debate-about-budget-freeze-ice

Instead, we have Mr. Reich (and I respect his criticisms as well) talking about how the admin needs to do more to help working families.

Did Countdown even mention the initiatives the President announced yesterday to help working families?
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/obama-middle-class-tax-credits/story?id=9659186

And he has the nerve to criticize the major networks news programs for not covering O'Keefe scandal.

Anyone care to guess who's on MY Worst Person's list tonight?

It's hard to admit that things aren't as we've hoped for, after we finally got what we asked for, after eight long years.:-(

12. lol, who's admitting that?
not me.

I seem to be one of the few who didn't expect everything to be fixed by day 371. .... And having read "Audacity" more times than I can count, he rarely does ANYTHING that surprises me.

24. Guess I misunderstood your post and I need to read that, so I understand, too.
And I still support the president, as well. I have patience and I still have hope. This country was left in such an ungodly mess that we can hardly expect everything to be fixed overnight. When we first saw all of the candidates lined up on that stage, I remember saying "Who would want this job now?!" And I still think that we couldn't have done better, in this place and time. :-)

26. I still remember his infamous appearance on "Crossfire..."
When he pointed out that his lead-in was a puppet show, LOL.

BTW, I've seen the show in person, was in the studio audience about a year and a half ago, and he's just as witty in person as he is on TV. He's also very nice to the studio audience, for all the fun he makes of everybody. One lady wanted to see the notes that he keeps on his desk and when the taping was over, he gave them to her. :-) :hi:

Negative all the time. Let them keep that up. It's going to wear thin soon. A lot of people are tired of it.

10. I think the correct terminology is "red meat".
Don't get me wrong as I love Keith but he has an audience to please and right now his audience is in general unhappy with Obama and he is going to play to them. Keith seldom if ever has any guests who disagree with him. Unlike Rachel, he seldom entertains opposing viewpoints. It just isn't his style.

17. And Rachel, McCain did NOT lose the election because of his spending freeze plan!
FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

By the time McCain was talking about the spending freeze in the debate, he'd already said "the fundamentals of our economy are sound" AND he'd picked that Palin woman AND Obama had spent the last 10 months being spectacularly awesome!

So just stop it!!!

(trying to contain all of my MSNBC outrage to one thread)

to go back to Washington and suspend the campaign. I love Rachel, especially when she wears her cute glasses, but she is wrong on that one.

27. Oh, good... I thought it was just me...
I've been pissed off at Rachel these past two days. She seems way off her game on this whole 'freeze' issue. She's acting almost giddy. It's weird.

I don't know where she's getting her pre-SOTU info from, but I'm hearing totally different things than she is. What I'm hearing makes sense to me.

I've decided to wait until I actually hear what the President says before I decide whether or not I agree.

I just wish all the pundits would do the same...

But nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. Including Obama, of course. In my mind, no one is above criticism including myself. No one walks on water for me.

28. Oh please! The "Obama can do no wrong" fans and the still-sore Hillary fans get together
in a single thread and decide KO and Rachel suck and that Jon Stewart is right to knock them.

So blatant.

Frankly, not a one of Obama's "middle-class relief plans" is going to help me personally. They will only help students with loans to repay or people who already have jobs, with children, and with elderly adults to care for. Goody for them...but meanwhile, me, a single, unemployed person with my student loans paid off, one dead parent and the other doing fine without my care (at least for now)? Nothing for me at all.

I need a JOB, dammit. Not child care or elder care help or student loan assistance. I'm glad other people are getting help, but I need some that applies to me.

All KO and Rachel are doing is their jobs as journalists. Their job is not to be cheerleaders for the current administration...which is precisely what we hated Fox News for during the Bush years.

29. XM POTUS channel had a little fun at Olberman's expense this morning
referring to him as the "low keyed" anchor from MSNBC, then proceeded to play clips of his over-the-top maniacal special comments. I think they said today is his birthday.

Edited on Wed Jan-27-10 04:28 PM by freddie mertz
Everyone has at least some criticism to offer, even folks like Rachel who are very much pro-Obama have a few issues they dare to keep bringing up in public.

And one thing we know for sure: It's hard to shoot in all directions at once, at an ever moving, ever morphing and constantly shifting army of "enemies".

Up, down, left right, in front, behind. Sheesh.

Must be a dizzying thing to try and sustain every day, all day, on the internets.

31. Its cable "news". KO is on our side but his primary job is not truth
its sensationalism and ginning up outrage. Thats the formula that works for cable "news". Keith does it well and is mostly right, but he doesn't get paid the big bucks for telling the truth.
